Sunday with Glama

 This crowd cleans up nicely!

We pulled out all the stops for Sunday dinner- including Grandma Davis' china!

 Glama was the 2nd generation to have the china in her care so it was a little reunion.

 I wish we could have her and Bampa over for dinner all the time!

Come Sail Away!

This summer Superkid and Abizella signed up for sailing classes. To give you an idea of how much they loved it, they have been plotting together ever since to buy themselves a boat. They talk about it all the time.

Lucky for them- they got private lessons!

The biggest mistake Pops and I ever made was not taking sailing lessons when we first moved to Boston. There are lessons on the Charles River for about $100 bucks for the whole summer (which included sailboat, and canoe rental)- seemed extravagant at the time. We vowed we would do it some day- and it isn't over til the fat lady sings. Our new strategy is to get the kids lessons and so one day they can teach us.

Superkid's lessons came just in time-

The Scouts took a trip up to Maine to go sailing at the end of August.

Superkid was pumped to be at the helm of a bigger, more technically advanced ship.

Pops got his hand at the captain's wheel as well. 

Pops and I named our boat years and years ago. 

We were walking along the banks of the Jordan River in Utah 

dreaming about life. 

We decided that our boat would be named, "The Blue Footed Booby". 

This will happen. We're on our way.

Swans in the Boats, Ducks in the Park, Frogs in the Pond.

I Love Boston! 

We don't go into town as a family nearly enough. 

We're glad Glama came so we had a good excuse! 

Can you believe she's never gone on a Swan Boat ride?

It was obviously a bright BRIGHT sunny day!

It is always so beautiful!

And the ducks always put on a good show!

I love the Weeping Willows that line the pond.

And of course we had to go visit the Ducklings!

We missed having Superkid- but I'm sure the little ducklings were relieved not to have that giant kid squat on their backs.

Then we were off to Frog Pond to cool off.

It is the perfect little pool for our littlest Toad.

But all the Toads enjoyed hopping around in the pond.

And speaking of cooling off- nothing beats a cool slice of watermelon on an August afternoon.

Right Glama?

Abz also gave Glama a manicure!

Glama is at the BEACH.

My mommy is here!

I love it when she comes, it means we get her all to ourselves!

I worked from home on Friday- which means I got up at 4:00 a.m. to get in a few hours before the house woke up. Mom entertained the troops while I had a teleconference and then we hit the beach!

Like Mother Like Daughter, there are two things we agree on, the beach and TONS of pictures. Brace yourselves.

Abizella had a great idea...

Rent a surf board! 

 I love her adventurous spirit. We all wanted a turn!

 Tadpole finally got his turn...

 And he hopped right up!

He made it look easy... too easy! The rest of us tried and tried, but he was the only one who could hop up by himself, no prob.

 Glama is so cool. She was committed to making sure everyone  become a pro.

 I love how vested she is! Look at those balance arms!

 Then Glama took her turn!

 It was a wild ride!

 A natural!

 My turn! 

Until now, I haven't come up with one good reason to do planks- 

now I have a really good one- Surfing! 

It took all of my core strength just to get to my knees..

What a fun day!

We celebrated our successful debut in the surfing world with ice cream from Hornstra Farm.

Ice cream out front- cows out back! ...and kittens too.

Yum!
I'm not going to lie. When I'm thinking of nothing else, I'm thinking about Hornstra's Almond Joy Ice Cream.

Life is good.
