Chinese New Year! The Year of the Rat.

Happy Chinese New Year!

Abizella and I are looking gorgeous so we had to document the affair.

Jaws thought he looked pretty good too so he jumped in for a shot.

You can see our disgust when we decided that we have had enough of him and were ready for more glamour shots of us.

Pops picked us up a Chinese New Year Feast from our favorite restaurant- Mulan  on his way home from the temple last night.

Little Chief's All Town Concert

I am SO proud of Little Chief. 

This is his second year of playing the cello with his school. 

He has improved so much. It was thrilling to hear him play tonight.

More Meets

Saturday the the kids swam against Norwell (i.e. Hyrum) and today they swam against Hanover. The kids are swimming really well and Pops and I are BUSTING with pride.

Today Pops was a timer. He over heard an exchange between the Hingham Boys 400 Free relay members and the Hanover relay team. Superkid was lined up to go first in the relay. The kid lined up to go first for the Hanover team sized Superkid up and said, "So, what is your time?" Superkid kind of shrugged, not wanting to give too much information away. The swimmer right behind Superkid very confidently said, "He swims a 58." Which sent the poor little swimmer quaking up to the block.

Superkid is a very good sport. He always shakes hands with his opponents before and after the race. When I complimented him on this he said, "It's good karma. It is purely selfish. I need all the good karma I can get." But I know that his cool way of diverting attention from his heart of gold.

Dungeons and Dragons

We're hosting D&D tonight. 

This requires 2 cases of rootbeer, meatball subs, a giant bowl of candy and the pretzel portion of Chex party mix.

They're trying to expose the king because he joined a cult and is conducting human sacrifices. This is the second cult they've busted this week.

I'm particularly fond of Abizella's character- Magoosa!

Chinese China for Chinese New Year! 

I lovingly hauled the blue China home from China more than 20 years ago. I guess I wasn’t planning for a family of 7 so the yellow dragon tea cups are a Quincy, MA addition- Kan Man. Don’t worry, that place is legit. It has an assortment of dried crustaceans treats in glass jars on the counter.

I am grateful to his leaders and this band of brothers and all of their wild antics.

January Sledding

It may be 65 degrees outside, but it is still January. 

So sledding it is!

You may say this doesn't look like as much fun, but they did this for hours and I never had to fix a glove or pull snow out of a boot.

Celebrating Davis Genetics

Superkid opted to drive home from one of our friend's house today. He didn't take the most direct path. I let it go for a time- but eventually asked him if he knew where he was going or if he was just enjoying driving and listening to his music. He confirmed it was the later. I told him he came by it honestly. Bampa knows no direct route. His favorite thing to do is to stop for a Coke and just drive and listen to his music. He doesn't even need to be going somewhere. He just likes to drive. Superkid replied, "Wait, you mean because I drive around a lot drinking Coke and listening to music I get to keep my hair?" The kid has never clung to his Davis genes with such vigor.

I'm not timing this meet so I'm clocking the kids from the bleachers.

Pops couldn't help himself- he had a few race tips for Superkid. 

Not only did Superkid have to endure the dad coaching but also the mom picture-taking of the whole affair.

It is everything to watch your daughter CATCH-UP and PASS-BY other butterfliers in the field. It is everything to watch your son anchor a relay and BRING IT HOME.
