Project Central

Abizella has been making good use of her time.
She barely has time to do her school work because she is in her happy place creating art and listening to old episodes of "The Office".

But when she heard Pops say that Jet Blue was resuming flights and all passengers required a facial mask to fly, she dumped the painting and picked up her sewing instantly. She wanted to make sure everyone in the family was showtime for our Utah trip this summer.
Airplane mask for Little Chief...
She hand-stitched a crazy goose on the side of her mask...
Pink puppy mask for Jaws...
Star Wars mask for Tadpole...
Sunflower flask for me...
Pops and Superkid got sailboat masks.
So fingers crossed!

Master Builder

Superkid has reached the phase of the pandemic where he has obviously watched everything possible on You Tube and is now building. He tells me he is nowhere near the phase when he comes down and starts talking to the family. But we are glad to see things are progressing.

First Grade Goofball

Everyone misses school. But Jaws is suffering the most. At least the others get to pick when and where they will do their school work. Jaws has to do it when someone is available to help him with it. To be delicate, there have been some struggles.
But I am grateful for the time we have had together to snuggle and tell the Little Bears story with toe socks, which is very silly and do some more practical lessons too, like how-to-cook-your-own-sausage.

And then there was this writing assignment that gives me the will to persevere...

We'll get through the first grade curriculum, if only just barely.

My Beach Bums

Obstacle Course

One of the Davis Kid favorite activities was running obstacle courses. Most childhood games devolve into a fight, but I only have happy memories of coming up with different obstacle courses in our yard and timing each other to see who was the fastest. We would race up the slide to the top of the play structure, swing through the monkey bars, bound across the trampoline, round the corner to the front porch, scale the railing, race across the porch and jump the railing on the other side, race down the other side of the house and coming panting to the finish line for our time. It never got old.

Today I forced the kids into a Mom Boot Camp. They hated it, as usual. After 3 rotations of stations I gave them the option of running an obstacle course instead. It was a game changer. It turns out that my Toads are just as competitive as my siblings. And so am I.

Abz created these fancy brick awards...
And then it got serious. They stakes were HIGH.

Tadpole surprised himself by taking first place.
He rose from utter apathy to being a fierce contender.
He crushed it.
Thanks for the awards ceremony Abz!

Covid-19 Diversions

Abz, Tad and Superkid participated in a Depression Era Zoom meeting where they earned to make chocolate cake without eggs, butter or milk.

The product was quite delicious!
We've been connecting with cousin Harper over Instant Messenger.

Tadpole spends his days rolled up in a cocoon doing his "homework"
And I have enjoyed Springtime walks in the blossoms!
