Here Come The Spooks!

The troops are ready to storm the neighborhood.
There is no possible way we are not coming out ahead this year.

Jaws took two steps in the door and dumped his loot.
The Big Kids brought in a revolting amount of candy.
8.5 lbs each.
Look at that winning smile!
Tadpole is a Milky Way man. He scored a FULL SIZE. Make that 3 Full Sized!!!
Jaws is digging the Air Heads.
Abizella is true to the plain Hershey's.
Superkid is still a 100 Grand man.
Little Chief is loving the Sour Patch Kids!
With all this candy- just imagine the possibilities for razor blades.
Trust me, I am taking all precautions. I am going through their loot with a fine toothed comb. Anything suspect is being removed for further analysis. So far the Reece's and Almond Joy have been removed in entirety. I've often found the Snickers to be susceptible to nefarious activity, so they are the next to go.

Then bags then get passed to Pops for tax collection.
It's the one day of the year he is Democrat.
It's a fat year for sure!

Mr. Jack-O-Lantern

Pumpkin Carving time!

This is a herculean effort spear-headed by Pops.
We've got 7 pumpkins to carve this year so it's all hands on deck.
Well, everyone except Tadpole who is offended by the smell of pumpkin guts. He banished himself to our bedroom after sketching his design on his pumpkin for Pops to carve.
Everyone else really got into it.
And I mean REALLY got into it.
Even Superkid has overcome his fear of slime.

The cutest pumpkin award goes to Jaws.
Scary- there's a striking similarity here...

Our resident pyromaniac got to work.
Hooray!
We are SHOW TIME!

Trunk Or Treat

This Littles started the evening with a warm-up lap at Abizella's door.
This crew is show-time. Bring on the CANDY!
But first I had to have my fun...
Including adding a little zinger to Jaws' "GOP" costume.
And more fun for me- an endless photo session (cue evil laughter)...
Here are my tricksters
Jaw's proclaimed himself a "Witch's Elephant" (note the magic wand).
Charmander!
Storm Trooper
Hufflepuff
Freaky Teenager
Then off to Trunk-or-Treat!
Our neighbors- Goldielocks and the 3 Little Bears

Jaws and his little pirate friend
The Paw Patrol Crowd
Squatty Potty

After the great candy harvest, it was trading time!
What a seriously fun night- that we look forward to all year!

Pooh Sticks

A long long time ago, when Superkid was just a wee little guy and Abizella was a baby, we went for an Autumn walk with Holly. We drove to the very very end of Wompatuck and took the last trail in the forest to see where it would lead us. After we strolled through the crunchy leaves for about five minutes we came across a little bridge that fronted a dam on a little pond. The water was high that year and we watched the water flush under the bridge into a little stream. Pops picked up some sticks and tossed them into the pond. We watched as the sticks were sucked under the bridge and ran to the other side to watch the sticks flush out. Pooh sticks. It's a Winnie the Pooh game. We are all big fans.

It's been a long time and I think we've only been back once or twice to play our game. This year we grabbed Holly and her new little pooch and went back in search of our bridge. Happily we found it (there are many many wandering trails in Wompatuck), but sadly it has been a dry year so there was no water under the bridge for Pooh sticks. But it didn't matter. We had a lovely time climbing trees, running with Lucy, discovering mushrooms and enjoying the Autumn forest. New England is spectacular!
